Introducing…. Loveable Loo Australia!
Loveable Loo was designed by composting loo guru Joseph Jenkins, author of The Humanure Handbook (Jenkins Publishing, 3rd edn, 2006).
It is an all-rounder composting loo suitable for indoor (or outdoor) household use, office, camping, shop, shed or emergency toilet use. No water, electricity, venting, plumbing or chemicals are required and it is totally odour free when properly managed.
The design is very simple and has been used across Australia and around the world for many years. People who use this setup rave about it and simply put – it’s the simplicity of the design that makes it so great.
“This design is, for my money, simply the best domestic-scale compost toilet ever. It’s so, so simple. It’s easy to build and easy to maintain, results in awesome compost, and means that we don’t have to poo in drinking water. What’s not to love?” – Kirsten Bradley, Milkwood Permaculture, discussing the Loveable loo that her and her husband built from Jenkins Loveable Loo plans.
Our 100% Australian made model of Loveable Loo is flat packed and shipped to anywhere in Australia. The material is marine grade hardwood plywood completely finished inside and out. The fastening system is a combination of dowels and bolts, which is extremely durable. The loo is available as a complete package (see details below) or just the loo itself.
You can also view plans to build your own ‘humanure loo’ here.
What You Get With Your Loveable Loo®:
- The toilet itself: 18mm marine grade plywood cut on a CNC machine, and your choice of toilet seat.
- Four large stickers to clearly label you toilet receptacles “Loveable Loo Toilet Receptacle – Use For No Other Purpose”(4 x $5 = $20). The toilet is built to house speifically 20 Litre ‘Maxi Pails’ available at Bunnings. It is important to use these specific pails, as small variations in pail dimensions from other manufacturers will not correctly fit the toilet. We have done this to avoid the associated freight costs of sending receptacles (pails) with the toilet and so, if extra receptacles are needed for your toilet in the future, they can be easily sourced locally.
- A “Read This First” instruction manual (can be read online).
- A laminated “This is a Humanure Toilet” sign for posting by your toilet can be viewed online.
- A copy of the Humanure Handbook, 3rd edition, a $25 value can also be read online.
- A Reotemp 20″ backyard compost thermometer, all welded stainless steel (rrp $82.50).
